16 Skaters Glide Across The Ice In Sync

With the cooler weather coming up, there aren’t many things that I’m excited about. Snow and cold temperatures don’t excite, and there’s no way I’m looking forward to lugging my winter jacket with me on my way to work and back. But, it is what it is.

If there is something that I look forward to during the winter season, then it has to be figure skating. There’s something really magical about watching people glide around over the shining layer of ice, in sync, and completely comfortable through all the spins, twirls, and lifts.

I’ve seen singles and doubles on the ice, but never before have I seen synchronized skating! This routine blew me away. Am I the only one out there feeling left out? I can’t get over the perfect coordination and precision it takes to put on a show like this. This pack of incredible women has really worked hard to make their dreams come true. Another reason why I’m so amazed by this routine is that there are 16 performers on the ice. I’ve seen pairs working their magic for an audience, but 16 people at one time is definitely something else!

This performance is from the Russian Synchronized Skating Team performing to Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” at the 2013 World Synchronized Skating competition, and they know what they’re doing!

The moment the music starts, these beautiful women begin to glide in a staggered formation, before coming together with the same moves and rhythm. At times they are separate and other times they are grasping each other’s arms. The lines change, from straight and narrow, then they break up to create a moving circle where each woman performs a trick. Together or isolated, they are always in sync. Pushing and pulling, stopping and starting — these women are amazing!

I can skate, but there’s no way that I can skate like these guys! It takes years of practice and dedication on the ice to showcase a performance like this team, and they deserve nothing less than a standing ovation for their act.

Click below to watch how graceful and elegant this team is as they effortlessly (although we all know how much work it takes!) take to the ice. If you enjoyed this routine as much as we did, then don’t forget to like and share this post with your family and friends!
