2. Peppermint

This herb is great for teas and adds a beautiful scent to your dishes. The growing process for peppermint works similar to cilantro—keep it in sunlight, or partially shaded areas, and it’ll grow just fine.

3. Lavender

Lavender has special healing powers and can ease migraine headaches, cramping, and relieve feelings of depression. All lavender needs to grow is plenty of sunlight and fresh air, and those two things are abundant almost all year round!

4. Oregano

 Oregano doesn’t need any special conditions to grow, and for anyone who has grown the herb at home, you know that they can go big! But don’t fret it, you can simply snip the plant with scissors to tame it.

5. Marjoram

If you’re a non-vegetarian, you’ll know the importance of this herb—it’s used to add flavor to chicken and beef dishes. The good thing about marjoram is that it needs to be kept indoors, so easily convenient to grow in any season.

6. Basil

This herb is everyone’s go-to and is super versatile. You can throw it in your soup, add it as a topping to your sandwich, or even pizza. Basil should be kept in the sunlight for up to 6-8 hours a day. So even if it’s wintertime, it has the potential to remain completely healthy as long as it’s exposed to the sun!

7. Chives

Is this herb everyone’s favorite onion? Maybe it is, so why not grow ample right at home? All a chive plant needs is an abundance of water and sunlight.

8. Sage 

It’s super easy to grow sage—they don’t need that much sunlight so a partially shaded area will do just fine for this herb to grow.

9. Lemon Balm

Another healing herb, lemon balm is good for improving digestion and sleep, and even easing feelings of anxiety. This herb needs loads of sunlight for optimal growth.

10. Stevia

Stevia is used to sweeten dishes up a bit. But it’s not too specific on where it will grow—leave it in either shade or sunlight, and the results will be the same.

11. Rosemary

Another kitchen classic, rosemary needs plenty of sunlight.

12. Thyme
