Master Craftswoman Demonstrates How To Really Use A Measuring Tape

At some point in your life, you probably had to measure something using a measuring tape. Whether you were checking to see if a couch would fit in your living room or you wanted to see how tall you were, a measuring tape can certainly come in handy. You can’t really plan to do anything without one! And it’s simple too, right?

Just pull out the silver tab to reveal the long, yellow stiff tape. You lay it from one end to the other, from point A to point B and that’s it. Isn’t it? Apparently not. It’s not the kind of tool people teach each other how to use. Come on, fess up!  Has anyone ever taught you how to use a measuring tape? Yeah, I didn’t think so. You’re probably thinking, “Huh? Don’t you just read the numbers?”

You see, that’s what I thought, too. But apparently, there’s much more to it than that. As with most things, appearances can be deceiving. It’s easy to overlook little details and bits and pieces and assume they’re just there because they are! But actually, there are a lot of things that are designed to be ergonomic or enhance the experience of their intended use. Tape measurers are definitely one of them!

This nifty toolbox must-have often comes with several built-in features that are actually very useful but are completely overlooked by the vast majority of people. Thanks to “Lea See Jane Drill” you will now learn everything about measuring tape that you had no idea existed.

She really goes over all the little features that you didn’t even know existed and will make your life a lot easier. Did you ever notice the little holes in the metal end of the measuring tape? They are there to hold on to nails or screws so that you can attach it and measure things on your own!  And did you ever notice the serrated edge at the bottom of the metal end? It’s meant to make marks in the material you are trying to measure so you can keep track of your measurements. Well, there are many more tricks were those came from.
