Footage Of BBC Reporter During Hurricane Irma Emerges Online And It’s Frightening

Of late we’ve seen a number of natural disasters hit various parts of the world. The damage and loss of lives and possessions are an utter tragedy, leaving many homeless or without the ones they love. But despite nearly all in the affected areas running for safety, there is one man who risked his own life to report the terrible state of affairs.

Patrick Oppmann is a news reporter for the BBC, and instead of hiding under cover, he’s taken some hazardous measures by standing in the middle of Hurricane Irma in Cuba to show the world the devastating effects. He does this not only to educate those who are worried but also to give those living in Florida an appropriate heads up, as the hurricane moves swiftly in their direction. It’s a shocking yet brave act indeed.

The video begins with the reporter’s jacket wrapped around his head due to the storm. It takes him a considerable amount of time to move it and put it on, but once it is, you can still see his surroundings shaking in terror. Later, the clip shows how the hurricane has simmered down slightly, but then how it picks up speed again. He admits that all of the surrounding houses are now underwater.

Many people took to Twitter in concern of Patrick’s wellbeing, worrying for his safety. One comment read, “I think Patrick … its time to put the camera on hold & evacuate…..?”. He is a courageous and arguably crazy guy for braving the awful weather conditions.

Give the video clip below a watch, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, we hope that you and your family are safe and have not been affected by this frightening natural disaster.
