If you wear contact lenses, then you know that putting on and taking off your contact lenses can be a hassle. Taking off your contact lenses is especially a nuisance after a long night… heck, maybe you just fell asleep and forgot about them. I’ve been guilty of sleeping with my contact lenses on far too many times so I started using contact lenses that were meant for overnight wear. But after hearing this tragic story, I’m seriously reconsidering. Chad Groeschen was wearing extended wear contacts for multiple days when his eyes began irritating him. [googlead]He thought it was just allergies until he one day woke up with a huge headache, sinus pressure, and cloudy vision. When he went to the doctor, he learned that his Pseudomonas bacteria had been building up under his contact lens and damaged his eye. Unfortunately, the infection had reached a point that it left Chad blind in his left eye. Chad’s story hits way too close to home and I’ll bet it does for a lot of other people. Please make sure you share this story and get the word out… I think it’s about time for me to look into laser eye surgery.
