Dogs tend to be devoted to their owners. A brave, ‘Lassie-type’ dog will follow its owner anywhere, without a single thought considering its safety. These are the dogs that run into burning bedrooms to wake their owners and save them from tragedy. These perfect pooches stay by the side of a lost child, providing them warmth and protection through cold nights that they otherwise would not have survived until rescue finally arrives. Dogs like this fight off intruders and wild animals to save their humans’ lives.
Each day, my dogs protect me from all sorts of danger. Because of them, not once has the mail delivery person or UPS driver harmed me, and it is all thanks to their incessant alarm barking. They have saved me from the constant threat of deer and squirrels, who wouldn’t have ended my life but at the very least, stolen vegetables from the garden and bird seed from the bird feeders. Most importantly, they have saved me from eating all kinds of poisonous food by eating it themselves. I can not think of another reason why that would have stolen all that food off of my plate. Each morning, I wake up thankful that I’m alive, and it’s all because of my brave mutts.
I don’t know if Rocky, the Boxer in this video, has ever stolen food, but he is willing to do whatever it takes to save the boy he loves. When the boy jumps into a deep pile of leaves and disappears, it takes Rocky only a few moments and a tiny bit of coaxing to jump in after him without a thought for his safety. His reaction is adorable, hilarious, and sums up why we love our precious dogs so much.
