Dad Boils His Crayons And Runs Them Through A Pasta Strainer… The Reason? This Is GENIUS!

When I was a child, I loved playing with crayons. I mean, what child could resist playing with crayons? Whether you were an artist creating a masterpiece or a troublemaker who just wanted to scribble all over the walls and furniture (yes, I’m guilty of this), crayons meant fun and creativity. I had a shoebox full of Crayola Crayons of every colour imaginable. Of course, while there were some near-new crayons, there were also a lot of crayon stumps.

“Crayon stumps?” When I used up most of a crayon until there was nothing left but a half-inch stump. I didn’t actually want to throw these stumps away so into the shoebox they went. But apparently, there are much better things you can do with those crayons that you don’t need anymore.

Brian Ware is a father who collects thousands of crayons that people don’t want anymore. He then takes those crayons, separates them by colours, boils them down, and then remoulds them. The result? Up to 4,000 new crayons in a single day! But why does Brian go through all that trouble to recycle crayons? Brian calls it The Crayon Initiative. Brian recycles old crayons so that he can give new crayons to children in need at local hospitals. And his idea his picked up steam… hundreds of people have volunteered to help Brian on his mission to help make children smile.

Check out the heartwarming video below. The world could definitely use more people like Brian Ware!
