I’m going to share a secret with you- I’m afraid of natural disasters. Not just major disasters, but even a thunderstorm with a lot of wind can send me running to the basement. Even though I live on the east coast (and not very close to the actual coast), I fear events that only other parts of the country experience on a regular basis. I watch the weather report diligently, especially during hurricane season. I pace nervously as hurricanes hit Florida and threaten to move up the coast, though the most my area will get it some residual rain and wind as the storms weakens and only brushes the coast. During every severe thunderstorm, I listen intently and watch the clouds, fearful of a tornado, though they’re incredibly rare and very weak in this area. I have no idea how people live in tornado alley.
