As a dog mom, I like to believe that my pets are absolutely perfect. If you ask me about my dogs (or even if you don’t) I’m likely to tell you story after story about how wonderful they are and why I love them. Once I get started with the tales of their perfection and angelic ways, I’m unlikely to stop. I can only hope that my companions are in a comfortable chair and have some caffeine because I could go on all night!
The truth is, however, that I am reluctant to admit that my dogs are not as perfect as I think they are. They are wonderful companions and are kind, playful, and the best friends a girl could have, but they aren’t immune to getting into a bit of trouble.
My larger, younger dog loves to dig holes in the flower beds and then roll around in the dirt. He then happily brings that dirt back into the house with him. The older dog, sweet as she is, still chases the cat after all of these years. It’s harmless fun and she has lived with the cat for more than a decade, but she can’t help it, no matter how much I ask her not to chase.
The difference between my dogs and the adorable pup named Rooney who appears in this video is that Rooney is actually sorry for his naughty actions. Rooney’s mom couldn’t find her glasses and had basically given up until she found them chewed up and buried in the yard. When she calls her dogs, Rooney comes running but when he sees the glasses in her hand, it’s obvious he feels pretty guilty for what he has done. But, it’s impossible to be mad at that adorable face for long.
