It is estimated that the average adult spends more than five hours per day watching television, and that doesn’t even take into account those weekend Netflix binges. If you’re at all like me, television is a pretty big part of your life. As much as I hate to admit it, I spend way too much time in front of the television. That’s just it—I’m often in front of the television but not actually watching it.
I spend a fair amount of time on my own at home, so the television serves as background noise. It’s almost always on, playing the news, the Food Network, the Discovery Channel, or one of those ridiculous home renovation shows that I love to hate. (Seriously, who actually lives in a tiny house?!) I even sleep with the tv on.
While the television is a constant companion, so are my two dogs. Which means that whether they like it or not, my four-legged companions watch A LOT of television. They rarely pay attention to anything on the screen, unless of course, someone on one of the shows rings a doorbell. Then it’s impossible for them to contain their excitement. There’s a ridiculous amount of barking and several minutes to calm them down and convince them that we don’t actually have any visitors. Fun fact: My house doesn’t even have a doorbell!
My dogs may not pay much attention to the television, but the dogs in this video certainly do. They’re like little kids, sitting too close to the screen, wide-eyed and enamoured with everything that happens. Of course, one pup is thrilled to see the dog show. But, my absolute favorite is the dog responding to commands given on the television. My dogs don’t even listen to me that well!
