As a child, I can vividly remember giving my parents a hard time each night at bedtime. We had a reasonable bedtime, later than most of my friends, and my parents were pretty easy going if there was a movie playing or a task that we wanted to finish. But, that didn’t stop the inevitable argument when they finally called an end to the day. ‘Five more minutes’ seems like such a pointless and ridiculous argument, but I still used it daily, much to my parents’ dismay. It rarely worked, but I was willing to give it a shot. If anything, the actual argument afforded me a few more moments out of bed.

As an adult, my feelings about bedtime have reversed completely. I look forward to the end of the day, often waiting impatiently for the sun to sink below the horizon. Once it’s dark, it’s finally appropriate for me to crawl into my bed—my comfy sanctuary from the world. Even if I don’t go to sleep right away, I’m surrounded by warm blankets, comfy pillows, and my favorite books and notebooks for writing. My dogs share my love for bedtime and are always happy to climb into bed for cuddles and sleepy time.
The boxer in this video doesn’s share my, or my dogs’ affection, for the bedtime ritual. Even though the adorable pup is tired from an undoubtedly long day of walks, playing, naps, treats, and snuggles, he wants the day to keep going. Like a sleepy child that argues bedtime just for the sake of argument, this pup always has something to say when his mom tells him, ‘It’s time for bedtime.’ We don’t know exactly the words this dog is saying, but the argument is hilarious!
