For many, pregnancy is a massive cause for celebration. Being able to give the gift of life and to take care of another human being is a joy that mothers and fathers worldwide experience on a daily basis. But imagine you had just found out that you were pregnant… delightful! You make your way to the doctor’s office to get a checkup and the doctor tells you that you’re not just having one child, but 12! Well, first of all is that even possible for mammals? And secondly, oh my gosh!
But in a rare case, this mother was an absolute natural with her dozen newborns. In fact, some may even go as far as to say that she was born to be a mother! But that doesn’t mean she did not suffer a terrible past. In fact, she was on the brink of death before someone managed to save her… and her offspring.
A pup named Gracie was on death row, sporting an extremely swollen belly, when Dr. Matt from Vet Ranch found her. He managed to rescue her and bring her back to the vet in order to examine her. While doing so, he noticed that Gracie did not have a swollen stomach because she was ill but because she was pregnant… with 12 offspring! He also noticed that she had an issue with her left eye which caused an obstruction – a problem that was seen to right away.

But one way in which Dr. Matt didn’t need to help Gracie, was with her childbirth. In fact, Gracie did it all on her own during the night without the help of anyone. When Dr. Matt saw Gracie with her 12 newborns, he was completely overwhelmed and impressed by the fact that she was so attentive and nurturing to all 12 of them.
