The story was that Dorothy Hope Smith, a family friend, had done the original rough charcoal portrait sketch. A year later, in 1928, Gerber launched a contest to find the official face of their baby food brand. Smith submitted her sketch and promised Gerber that she would finish it if Ann’s portrait was chosen. But Gerber absolutely loved the rough sketch of the wide-eyed Ann and declared her the winner! By 1931, Ann’s face become the official trademark of the Gerber brand.

As you can see, she’s just as adorable as ever!
