An emergency can be terrifying for anyone, especially a small child. Little kids are taught that during an emergency they should dial 9-1-1. But, there’s no way to predict how they’ll react when something scary happens.
The little girl in this video approaches a life-threatening emergency in her family with a “cool as a cucumber” attitude. She’s completely unflappable. When her father realizes he’s having a heart attack, it’s up to five-year-old Savannah to save the day. She dials 9-1-1 and immediately gets a dispatcher on the line. Then, she calmly explains the situation.
When the dispatcher tells Savannah that she should go and unlock the door for the rescuers, she calmly performs the task. On her way out of the room, she says something that melts everyone’s hearts: “Don’t worry, Dad!,” she can be heard reassuring her father that everything will turn out alright.
She rushes to the door and returns to the phone. Then, the conversation gets pretty hilarious. While explaining to the dispatcher that her Dad needs oxygen, she also starts to wonder aloud about what she plans to wear. She and her father are in their pajamas, after all.
I can only imagine that this little girl is going places. When she gets older, she is going to be one of those strong women who always have everything together. She will handle any situation with poise, grace, and calm. And of course, in everything she does, she’ll undoubtedly do it with plenty of style.
There’s no need to worry about Savannah’s father. Her quick thinking and calm demeanor saved his life that day, and he was able to make a full recovery. Savannah’s experience reminds everyone how important it is to teach children to dial 9-1-1.
