Girl Is Reunited With Dad After Performing At Veterans Day Assembly

Haley Webb is an 8th-grade student at Bingham Middle School in Independence, Missouri. For the past two years, her father, who has been in the military for 15 years, has been gone on deployment. That means that for two entire years he has missed out on watching his young daughter grow up. As someone who performs a job that is meant to keep all of us safe, he, in turn,  gave up birthdays, holidays, and special events with his child. He missed out not only on monumental days and events but the day-to-day living with his family, that many take for granted.

He gave up things like sitting down to a regular dinner with his family and driving his daughter to and from school, or at that very least, seeing her off before she walks out of the door in the morning. For two years, he has been missing from family game nights and television time. It may seem like a burden to some, but he’s also missed out on helping her with her homework, and even the typical family disagreements that are a part of growing up. And he gave all of that up to keep his family and your family safe.

For the years that he was gone, his daughter Haley watched countless military reunion videos, wishing she was watching her own. So, when it was time for her dad to come home from deployment, he worked with Haley’s school to plan a special surprise during the school’s Veterans Day assembly. After playing her flute in the band, she was asked to introduce a special guest. About halfway through reading the introduction, she realizes who the special guest is… and we’re all in tears.

Watch the heartwarming reunion and if you liked it, please like and share the video with family and friends!
