Talented Gorilla Mimics Human Behavior And It’s Bang On

I’m going to admit a secret: Deep down, there’s a tiny part of me that believes in big foot or sasquatch. My reasonable, practical side knows that there is no way the big foot legend is real and that it’s pretty ridiculous.

But, I like to think that deep in the woods, there is a society of not quite human and not quite animal creatures who walk like humans but look more like apes. How could it not be true if so many people believe that they have seen them? And then there’s the gorilla in this video.

When I first saw Ambam, the silverback gorilla perform his “trick”, he definitely reminded me of what I think a big foot actually looks like. But, he’s not a mythical creature with a legend surrounding his existence—Ambam is a real animal.

Ambam lives in Kent, England at the Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. Most of the time, he looks like a regular gorilla. He walks on his feet and hands, just like the rest of his species. But, he has started to show a tendency to walk upright, like a human being, and it’s quite a sight to see.

He began by standing up and balancing on his feet for short periods of time. Eventually, with some practice, he started to take steps forward—and then, actually walking. The six-foot-tall gorilla is quite an imposing sight, and people are coming from all over to see Ambam’s special “talent” for themselves.

His unique ability has surprised not only the visitors but his caretakers, as well. The zookeepers and scientists speculate that he learned it from watching humans and decided to emulate them. Whatever his reason, it’s impressive to watch a gorilla wander around his enclosure like a human!
