Talented Teen Performs “All By Myself” During Blind Audition

The song “All By Myself” by Celine Dion made extra famous in “Bridget Jones’ Diary” is a song that has a huge wow-factor – if done well! Yes, it’s a really sad song, but the sheer power required to pull it off warrants huge talent. After all, it’s one of Celine’s most memorable songs, need I say more?

So when Iris Verhoek stepped onto the stage of “The Voice Kids — Holland” for her blind audition, no one expected it would be a fresh-faced young girl, with braces and braids in her hair, who could carry such a song! It’s a huge song, and I’ll be honest and say that even I was a bit nervous for her when she started to sing.

Before appearing on “The Voice Kids — Holland,” Iris has had parts in multiple musicals and has sung publically in various venues. No stranger to the stage, she knew what she was getting herself into! Barely into the song, the first judge hits the buzzer and spins, while the remaining two hum and haw and have a joking debate amongst themselves before they too hit the buzzer.

All three judges are in awe as Iris takes them on a musical journey, building power and suspense. Her true vocal range is revealed at the climax of the song when she channels her inner Celine and wails like the songstress herself. Every judge is flabbergasted while Iris’ family jumps for joy behind the stage!
