Country Band Performs Iron Maiden Cover

Every generation has a popular band. It can be a beloved boy band or a group of countrymen coming together and putting together a killer singing group. Whatever the case may be, we can all admit bands will never disappear from the music industry, and they shouldn’t.

I remember growing up to the Spice Girls and N Sync; the Backstreet Boys were also all the rage when I was younger. There used to be Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys merchandise, bubblegum, shoes, and more! This all happened back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Soon after that, these bands separated and left us in search of another group of singers to turn to.

If you grew up during the 80s, you’re probably familiar with Iron Maiden. For the uninitiated, Iron Maiden is one of the most celebrated British heavy metal rock bands of all time and this was despite getting little support from TV and radio. They’ve sold over 90 million albums worldwide with some of their biggest hits being “The Number of the Beast,” “Wrathchild,” and “The Trooper.” They’re sort of a big deal and I bet you know a ton of other songs by them that I missed in that list.

Iron Maiden’s impact on music history cannot be denied. They’ve influenced the likes of Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold. Many artists have also paid tribute to this legendary band by performing covers. Perhaps you’ve heard them. But I can guarantee that you’ve never heard a cover of “The Trooper” like this before.

So here’s Iron Maiden…

…and now meet these guys: Steve ‘N’ Seagulls.

Steve ‘N’ Seagulls is a Finnish country band that has developed a reputation for playing unusual but catchy bluegrass covers of well-known rock and metal songs. As you might have imagined, their renditions are unlike anything you’ve heard before. Their latest cover? Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper.” Have you ever wondered what “The Trooper” might sound like with a banjo? Well, you’re about to find out.

Before you jump into this rendition, tell us what other versions of this classic you enjoy listening to. We’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Now, watch their incredible bluegrass rendition of “The Trooper” below and be sure to let us know what you think! And if you know any Iron Maiden fans (or any metal fans!), be sure to share this story with them, you can’t go wrong with a listen!
