Kid Who Bought Painting For $2 Finds Out How Much It’s Actually Worth

Do you have a knack for collecting things? Stamps, coins, quilts? What are you most interested in? I’ve always been a hoarder of board games. You can name any board game, and I can almost guarantee that I will have it stored at home somewhere. Of all the ones that I do have, the old school ones are my favorite. Those are the ones that I bust out every time I have a family gathering, and we all have a great time throwing it back with a classic game of Monopoly or Parcheesi! i

If I come to think about it, I have so many board games that I can even start my own gaming cafe — ah, the life of an entrepreneur. Now, one might think that becoming an entrepreneur is much easier today, due to the thriving online scene, but there are many people worldwide who have stuck with traditional means as a way to make a living. And one such activity is visiting auctions.

But in an amazing turn of events, the video below shows off a young boy who has been buying items at auctions for several years, and who recently acquired a painting for a mere two dollars. Then, he visits David Weiss from the popular show, “Antiques Roadshow,” and becomes alarmingly aware of the real value of his piece of art.

“This piece was found at an auction in South Jersey — I got it for two bucks. We thought it was a watercolor, but we couldn’t tell because of the UV glass,” said the boy. David confirms his speculation, saying that it is indeed a watercolor painting.

So, as the young boy sits opposite David, they discuss the purchase as well as his passion for buying and selling items. Then, the boy is asked to estimate how much he thinks the painting sitting before him is worth. His guess? Not nearly as much as the true value!

You see, this painting was created by Dutch artist, Albert Neuhuys, in the late 19th century, and it turns out that it is worth quite a pretty penny. The people who owned it in the past didn’t know a thing about its worth, but this little boy is in for a surprise of a lifetime.

Learn the true value of this piece of artwork in the video below, and take a look at the young boy’s face when he hears the amazing news! It’s absolutely priceless!
