Luke Bryan’s Haunting Rendition Of ‘O Holy Night’ Is Giving Everyone Goosebumps

Whether or not you are a fan of Christmas music, it’s difficult to dispute that some songs of the holiday season are just timeless. I’m not talking about “Jingle Bells” and “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer,” even though they are some of the most recognizable Christmas songs, today. I would like to think that a century from now, those would not be the songs that stand out in everyone’s minds and play on whatever high-tech music machine is used to play Christmas music on repeat in the distant future.

The song “O Holy Night” is over a century old and fortunately, it is still played, especially this time of year. Though I have heard it dozens of times over my lifetime, it remains a powerful song and a reminder of the spirit of the Christmas season. Many artists have performed this song, and it has been sung at Christmas church services for as long as I can remember, but sometimes an unlikely artist will breathe new life into a song like this one.

In this instance, that artist was the country music star, Luke Bryan. You may have expected it to come from a powerhouse voice, but Bryan’s subtle, haunting interpretation brought something very special to the familiar song.

His performance came during the Country Music Association (CMA) Christmas special. Famous artists took to the stage in a huge event hosted by country music legend Reba McEntire. While the program was mostly a fun, upbeat family show, designed for the holiday season, it was Bryan’s more somber performance that stole the show.

With the lights low and surrounded by the beautiful winter landscape of the stage, Bryan’s voice filled the room with his powerful rendition of “O Holy Night.” If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the stunning performance in the video below.
