Man Flies A Drone Over Lake To Capture A Gushing Hole In The Lake

The world is a fascinating place as nature alone can create beautiful things. Equally, however, nature is capable of a catastrophe such as tsunamis and drought. And for the last five years, the state of California had been suffering dreadfully from the latter, especially Napa County, a popular tourist attraction in the golden state.

Luckily, this past winter brought in so much rain that the rivers were able to fill up to full capacity, which meant that the beautiful man-made river, Lake Berryessa, was able to amaze its visitors once again with its huge hole built to serve as a spillway.

How so? Well, when the lake reaches its capacity, the water then drains into a dam via the hole. This is of course quite cool, but until recently, no one had been given the opportunity to see inside the hole. And that is when professionals got to work with their drone to capture a mesmerizing sight.

As the drone flies above the lake and goes above the hole, we can see the water swirl effortlessly, drowning down into the dam. The image, which looks like an optical illusion or something super trip-worthy, is somewhat calming and intensely amazing. Upon first look, it’s totally surreal. Then, once you learn it’s man-made, you realize it’s not a feat of nature but in fact an incredible feat of engineering! The planning, technical minds responsible for the construction of the hole in the lake are aware of California’s ebbs and flows when it comes to weather, so if it’s a dry season, it’s sure to be wet the next time around, and vice versa. The extra water has to be accommodated, as Mother nature is predictable in her unpredictability, after all! So having this hole is necessary for both drought and torrential downpours.

Isn’t it amazing what a little ingenuity and engineering are capable of? It’s hard to take your eyes away from the serenity of the water gushing to an unknown place! Where’s it all going? And so quickly too! And as much as we loved this video, we are equally as elated to know that the drought has passed in the beautiful state of California. But if it ever happens again, this spillway will definitely come in handy, as demonstrated in this see-it-to-believe-it video.

Give it a watch below, and if you’re as impressed as we are, be sure to like and share it with your family and friends.
