It can be a little disconcerting if you are out eating a meal with your child and you notice a couple of patrons in the restaurant are staring at you. That’s what happened when Kevon Smith Sr. was out enjoying a little bit of time with his three-month-old son, eating at the local Cracker Barrel in Willoughby, OH. He noticed that an older couple kept watching him and his son, but couldn’t figure out why. At least they were smiling…
The couple left the restaurant and Kevon continued his meal and time with his little boy. He was perplexed but didn’t think much more about why the couple would have been watching him so intently. He didn’t know that today he would be the recipient of a random act of kindness.
Kevin strives to be a good father as well as a positive influence on his community. This day, some of that good karma came back around. When Kevon went out to his car, he realized why the couple had been staring. They left a note on the windshield of his car.
Kevon enjoys a moment with his son, Kevon Jr.
Tucked carefully under the windshield of Kevon’s car was this note:
“Today your meal is on my wife and me. Enjoy that baby boy as long as God intends. Keep doing what you’re doing. The Masons.”
The Masons also included a little bit of cash for Kevon’s meal.
Kevon grew up without his father in his life and tries to be the best Dad possible.
He even quit a paying coaching job so that he could volunteer as a coach and role model for a community football team.
“I’m definitely going to make sure I’m paying it forward,” Kevon said. “I get blessed. I want to bless someone else.”
