Orangutan Becomes Emotional When He Learns That A Woman Is Pregnant

A mother’s maternal instinct to protect and nurture her children is beautifully marvelous and as we all know, it transcends species. Chances are that you’ve seen at least a few videos of animal mommies demonstrating their motherly love for their little ones. You may have seen an animal’s maternal instinct kick in while they’re around babies that aren’t even their own. But what about paternal instincts? How do male animals respond to being around babies?

Paternal instincts certainly do exist in animals and the amount of love and care that these dads can show is undeniably touching. And it doesn’t even have to be their own child.

A pregnant woman and her husband were visiting Colchester Zoo when they came across a large male orangutan. This particular orangutan had become very interested in the mom-to-be, with his eyes fixated on her baby bump. As she got closer to the glass enclosure, it seems as though the animal understands that there is a life inside her belly and he becomes very emotional. He gets as close as he can, and tries to gently caress and kiss the baby.
