Somehow it has become an accepted notion that dogs and cats are natural enemies. I’m sure that there are some examples of dogs and cats not getting along, and some breeds that possess a strong prey drive will often chase cats, but in my experience, dogs and cats actually get along quite well. They can even be best friends.
I’ve seen plenty of examples of dog/cat friendships, even with my own pets. I had a Jack Russell Terrier who spent his entire life with his favorite kitty best friend. They were born within the same month and when I brought home my tiny JRT puppy, I thought that he might like a friend. I adopted a striped orange tabby kitten of a similar age. The two became fast friends and that friendship continued throughout their lives. They slept in the same bed, played together, ate together, and when I would walk my dog, my kitty inevitably followed behind, happy to exercise with his closest pal. They shared a very special bond, and it seems that the dog in this video is looking for the same thing.
Obviously, dogs can’t actually talk, but I’m sure that many of us have spoken for them, inserting the words that we imagine they would say. This owner makes an entire conversation, speaking for himself and his dog, and the result is hilarious.
It seems that this very lucky pup is getting a new best friend and he couldn’t be happier. His dog’s reaction may or may not be to the prospect of getting a kitty, but it really doesn’t matter. We can’t get enough of this hilarious pair!
