It’s confession time. This may be an incredibly unpopular opinion, but I don’t like the beach. At all. I do enjoy beach vacations as a whole. As a child, I spent summers with my grandparents in their tiny place on the coast. I have very fond memories of days spent out on the boat, catching crabs and fish for dinner off of the dock, swimming in the pool, making new ‘summer friends,’ and walking on the boardwalk in the evenings.
I loved nearly every moment of those summers, and they are some of my favorite memories. But, once a week, this picture perfect summer got a little bleak, for me at least. One day per week, my grandmother packed the cooler with sandwiches and water, gathered up the beach umbrella and towels, and we walked over to the ocean to spend the day on the actual beach.
My brother and cousins loved it. But I always thought it was crowded, hot, and sandy. Back at the house, we had shade and a great pool. I never understood why we had to go to the ocean. I sat under the umbrella with a book or taking a nap while the others played.
The little puppy in this video has a similar view of the beach. At first, it seems like a delight. There are waves to dodge, critters to chase, and of course, endless digging in the sand. But, the ocean can be cruel. This adorable golden retriever works so hard to dig the perfect hole, but in moments, the ocean washes in and fills it right back up. I have to admit that even though I feel sorry for the little guy, I love his adorable, tough reaction. He tells off the ocean, even though it doesn’t care at all. I can’t get enough of this cuteness!
