Every home has a set of stairs and for us humans it’s so normal to approach a set of them and climb up, or down, to where we have to go. We don’t think twice about climbing the stairs—it’s so natural to mankind that even kids just KNOW how to use the steps. But it isn’t the same for dogs.
If you own a dog, you’ll know that stairs can be intimidating for your little furry friend. They see them as an obstacle, and they’re often scared away by a set of stairs, or they whine and cry until someone comes to their rescue—fair enough, I would probably do the same if I felt stranded!
The video below shows a puppy, a Labrador Retriever, conquering its fear of stairs. It seems like the pup is learning how to ascend and descend steps, but of course, every skill takes time to grasp. But that day the dog needed to get downstairs and ensure that all was well. Why? Because he heard the kids of the house screaming in the room on the first floor.
Dogs are loyal and possessive over their family members, especially children. So, when this canine heard the children screaming he knew he had to go to their rescue, and not even an obstacle of stairs was going to stop him! So sweet and brave!
