This off-duty golden retriever is doing what he knows best: retrieving, but with a twist. It’s his new way of fetching that combines retrieving and shopping, now made famous by Charlie the golden retriever from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Even when he’s not asked, nor in an environment with sticks and logs and balls to look for, this dog can’t deny what he was put on this planet to do – in any situation or place. While his human family was shopping, he decided to do a little retrieving/shopping for himself and picked out a cute fluffy, stuffed toy.
In this dog-friendly shopping mall, Charlie sees it as an opportunity to break free from his usual fetching routine. In his eyes, this is a chance to select his toy, bringing it to the humans to show how much he loves it so he can have it for later when he can run free.
The video shows Charlie parading around the store, his mouth stuffed and his tail wagging. He looks so happy like he just made the best retrieval of his entire doggy life. And he’s so calm and proud! He hasn’t, nor does he, rip it to shreds like other golden retrievers probably would. For only a brief moment he starts to thrash it in his mouth but stops before things get out of control. Charlie is on his best behavior, inevitably so mom and pop find him so cute they can’t say no to bringing home the new toy.
