Man Records Scary Footage Of Plane Dipping Dangerously Low Over The Ocean

It’s not every day you get the opportunity to see a plane flying low enough actually to see it in great detail. Even rarer, one likely won’t ever have to witness a plane almost landing itself in a dangerous situation — and hopefully won’t ever have to, whether as a witness or as a passenger.

One man, Sebastian Thoma, however, DID have the opportunity not just to see, but also film, a plane on its way to Princess Juliana Airport in St. Maarten from Toronto, Canada that was dipping a little too close for comfort near an ocean. Scary stuff, right? I was sure from the beginning of the video that the plane would make an unfortunate dive into the deep, blue sea.

To intensify the moment, even more, there was not one, but two scares in which the plane was virtually in the water. This just can’t be good; can you see a tragedy about to happen?! (I closed my eyes when watching both of these frightening incidences!)

Thoma kindly informed us (thank you, Thoma) that the plane was actually dipping wasn’t due to a tragedy at all. St. Maarten is known as the island where these aircrafts land very close to the ocean and people actually stand by to watch these landings. I think what makes it scarier is that in the video the day looks stormy with gray sky and heavy winds. Fortunately, the plane was able to keep in the air like it belonged, and neither the passengers nor the staff members on board suffered injury (except perhaps experienced a bit of a scare as many would).

Knowing that there was no harm done, Thoma’s video footage was neat — and relieving. If I had the ounce of luck the recorder had in seeing, let alone capturing footage of, an airplane dipping near an ocean, I’d post it online for the world to view too!
