Video Emerges Of Plane Landing Too Close To Comfort In Costa Rica

Isn’t the ins and outs of aviation sincerely fascinating? But even if you know nothing about the specifics, it’s somewhat comforting to know that you’re just a relatively short plane ride away from anywhere in the world! And you know what they say, an airplane is one of the safest modes of transportation. But regardless of this fact, some people still have a fear of flying—my guess is that it’s probably because of videos like the one below.

The airline, Iberia, flight 6313 was flying from Madrid, Spain to Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, Costa Rica, when they encountered a particularly difficult time. When it came to landing, they were experiencing problematic wind conditions, which meant that they had to land on the runway allocated for planes coming in from the west, not the east. And because of a different technique used for each, the landing was, simply put, insane.

An onlooker managed to capture it with his smartphone, whilst the plane flew over his head. It was so close, in fact, that the man admits to seeing the plane’s rivets as it whizzed past him. The plane then went on to almost scrape the airport’s fence and finally, landed safely.

And while many would say this is a crazy occurrence, Rolando Richmond from Costa Rica’s Civil Aviation Authority says that the way in which the aircraft landed is nothing out of the ordinary for this kind of situation.

Could you imagine anything more terrifying than this though, as a passenger or the onlooker? The whole thing is enough to scar anyone for life! Give the video a watch and if it shocked you, or even impressed you, be sure to like and share it with your family and friends.
