Baking Soda Shampoo: This Made My Hair Grow Faster Than Ever

Don’t look in my shower. Seriously, don’t. Why not, you ask? Because it’s embarrassing. There are so many bottles of shampoo and conditioner. There are smoothing conditioners and shampoos for extra body. There are a few bottles for color treated hair, even though I haven’t dyed my hair in the past year. There is even a bottle of shampoo plus conditioner for those days that I’m in a hurry. But, the crown-jewel of the shampoo collection, the thickening shampoo. It probably doesn’t work at all, but it makes me feel like my hair is thicker and growing faster. There are quite a few drawbacks to all of these shampoos and conditioners. First of all, it’s messy and cluttered. Second, it’s an unnecessarily expensive habit. And finally, there’s a pretty good chance that all of those expensive formulas have ingredients that don’t even work, and at worst, could actually be harmful.

It just so happens that one of the most common ingredients on your household happens to work pretty well as a shampoo. Baking soda is used for cooking, cleaning, natural beauty products, and more. It’s inexpensive and immensely useful. You may have a box in your refrigerator to absorb odors or add a but to your laundry to brighten and freshen your clothes.

To use baking soda as shampoo for clean, shiny, and fast-growing hair:

  1. Mix baking soda in a small squeeze bottle at a 1:3 ratio. Adjust the amount depending on the length of your hair.
  2. Apply on dry or wet hair, leave for three minutes and then rinse.
  3. Rinse your hair using apple cider mixed with water. (1 part cider to 4 parts water) A few drops of your favorite essential oil will make it smell better.

You should see a difference after the first use and pretty soon your hair will grow fast, strong, and healthy!
