For a lot of families, grandparents are the best babysitters. They’re usually more than happy to spend as much time with their grandchildren as possible.
I was one of those lucky kids who were able to spend the days with my grandparents, rather than with a babysitter. Each day, my mother would drop me off at their house. They were both retired and had the time to spend with me. We sometimes did things like go on outings or play board games like Candyland and Chutes and Ladders, but often, we watched television and took naps.
My grandfather, in particular, enjoyed his afternoon nap—something he did every single day. We would have lunch, and then he would go downstairs to his favorite dark green La-z-boy recliner. He would put something on the television, usually golf, and within minutes he would be sound asleep.
Typically, when someone is taking a nap, children are cautioned to stay out of that room, since it’s notoriously difficult for little ones to keep quiet. But, that wasn’t at all necessary where my grandfather was concerned. He was perhaps the soundest sleeper I have ever known. There was no amount of playing, laughing, or loud television programs that could wake him out of his slumber until he was good and ready.
My grandfather had a couple of things in common with the grandpa in this video. They were hard to wake up, and they both snored.
Perhaps he’s just worn out from playing with these adorable twins, or he always sleeps this soundly, but these cute babies can’t seem to wake him up. His snoring seems to fascinate them. Even while fast asleep, this grandpa is an endlessly entertaining babysitter.
