Veteran Dad Struggles With Stammer While Reading, So His Daughter Helps Him With Some Words

Most of us don’t really put that much thought into the way that we speak. It’s one of those things that we just do and so we take for granted our ability to speak clearly with ease. But did you know that over 70 million people worldwide stutter?

Stuttering is a communication disorder that affects the flow of a person’s speech. The cause of stuttering can be a number of different things, including genetics, child development issues, neurophysiology (their brain simply processes speech and language differently than those without a stutter), and family dynamics. While stuttering can be treated to some degree, every person is different and there is no instant cure.

Lance Lambert is a veteran from Texas who survived two tours in Iraq. Lance is happy to be home with his 6-year-old daughter, Avery, but he continues to battle his lifelong struggle with stuttering. This condition makes it difficult for him to do what he loves to do as a father: read to his little girl.

Stuttering has caused Lance to feel sad and depressed for his entire life. He feels particularly bad about his condition when he tries to read to Avery and even apologizes to her. But Avery tells her dad that his condition makes her love him even more.

In the incredibly touching video below, we see the love and dedication between a father and his daughter. Lance is Lance decided to share this video because he hopes that it will help others who stutter and raise awareness about the condition.
