3-Year-Old Performs Irish Step Dance

I haven’t been to Ireland, and it’s definitely on my list of places to go, but if there’s something that I’m completely familiar with as a part of the country’s culture, it’s Irish dancing—and I love it! It’s safe to say that in Ireland, people begin to practice their dance moves at a very early age, and soon enough they’ve perfected the beautiful dance form.

Now if you don’t believe me, then the video below is something you definitely need to watch. In the clip shared, you’ll see a three-year-old girl take part in her first ever feis; feis means step dance competition. Watch how she anxiously waits on stage for her turn to come.

As soon as she’s given the go ahead, the little toddler gets into full formation and starts her dance performance. You can see how impressed the audience is with her skills because you can hear them oo-ing and aah-ing as she begins. Although Irish step dancing started in the mid-1800s, it still such a big and important part of the Irish culture.

To uphold the culture and tradition of this infamous dance, the costumes are just as important as being able to dance. So it’s vital to have the right outfit when you’re about to perform, especially at a feis. It’s said that people wear bright and traditional dresses to this dance competition to attract the eyes of the judges as well. So the costume you wear for you routine definitely serves more than one purpose. Festival-goers also say that some performers will buy matching wigs to wear as well!

Although the three-year-old isn’t wearing a wig in the video below, her beautiful dress and talent are a must-watch!

Click on the video below and watch her work her magic during the feis. If you enjoyed this performance as much as we did, then don’t forget to like and share the post with family and friends!
