Engineers In Turkey Just Made A Real-Life BMW Transformer (Video)

Back in the 1980s, someone had the brilliant idea to create robots that could transform themselves into vehicles and other everyday objects. This incredible ability would allow them to inconspicuously disguise themselves in our midst. Of course, these robots only existed in cartoon and toy form. You’ve probably heard of them: Transformers. Loved by children and adults everywhere, Transformers is a massive media franchise, that now extends beyond the old cartoons and toys. The live-action movie series, in particular, breathed new live into the franchise. Whether you enjoyed the movie or not, there’s no denying that it’s pretty gosh darn cool to see giant realistic robots transforming into cars, planes, and a variety of other things.

But alas, that was all just computer generated graphics… where’s the real thing? Where are the real-life transforming robots?

Well, a team of Turkish engineers at a company called Letrons have gone ahead and turned dreams into reality by making a functioning car that can actually transform into a robot. Yep, that’s right… a real-life Transformer. Admittedly, it probably won’t do a very good job of protecting our planet from any invading bad guys (or maybe it is one of the bad guys?) but seeing this thing in action is nevertheless impressive! Can you imagine seeing one of these on the road?
