13 Other Uses For WD-40 That Aren’t For Protecting Against Rust

I’m not much of a hands-on person who used tools and other products to fix things around the home. But that doesn’t go to say that I don’t have tools lying around in my garage because really, you never know when you’ll need them. Handy tools and products don’t necessarily just have one use, and if there’s something that made me a firm believer in this fact, then it’s the trusted WD-40.

WD-40 is commonly used to protect any metal from rusting or loosening nuts and bolts when you’re taking something apart. But did you ever wonder if there are other uses for this product? If not, you’re not alone! There are people who didn’t know how versatile WD-40 is.

You can use WD-4O to remove grease from surfaces, stop wood from splintering, and even remove dog poop from the bottom of your shoes. But that’s not all. Tune into the list below and see how else you can put your can of WD-40 to use outside of the garage!

1. Removes splinters from wooden handles

All it takes is a small spritz of the spray onto the handles to ensure that they don’t splinter further and that you don’t prick your fingers. WD-40 will also help prevent the wood from rotting.

2. Helps loosen tight rings

Is your ring too tight around the finger? Spray a small amount of WD-40 on your finger and watch the ring seamlessly come off.

3. Helps with stuck zippers

Spray your stubborn zipper(s) with some WD-40 and move it up and down to lubricate the zipper.

4. Removes gum from your hair

If you ever get gum stuck in your hair, spray the area with WD-40, and it will easily come out. Remember to keep the spray away from your eyes and mouth and to use it in a well-ventilated area.

5. Eliminates glue

If you have glue stuck on your hands, or even on any other surface, spray this product and rub it all off. You can also use WD-40 to remove scuff marks and tar from the floor.

6. Helps get rid of dog poop

Next time you step into dog poop, don’t use your hands to scrape it off under running water. Spray the bottom of the shoe with WD-40 and rinse it—watch how the poop easily just comes off.

7. Helps prevent wasp nests

Do you have a particular spot where wasps come and build their nests every summer? Spray WD-40 in that area before the season hits, and they won’t ever return.

8. Eliminates tea stains

As an avid tea lover, I’m guilty of staining my coffee tables. Are you as well? Not to worry. Spray some WD-40 on your tables and remove the stains in no time.

9. Prevents snow building up on the windows

With winter just around the corner, this tip is going to come in handy! To prevent snow sticking to your car windows or the ones at home, simply spray WD-4o on them—the snow will never stick!

10. Helps clean toilet bowls

Spray this product instead of your everyday toilet bowl cleaner and clean as usual. WD-40 helps get rid of scum and lime build-up.

11. Winterproof your shoes

To prevent salt stains, and make your shoes waterproof for the winter, spray some WD-40 on them.

12. Wipes away crayon marks

WD-40 is tough on crayon marks so use it to clean TV screens, walls, and other surfaces where the kids have struck!

13. Removes stickers

Spray WD-40 on tough stickers (on your car or even price tags) and rub off the sticker.
