Weather Man Pronounces 66-Letter Name Of Town Flawlessly

There are a few TV programs that are on-air solely to educate and inform the public. Things such as the news, weather, travel, and nature broadcasts are not very likely to contain bouts of humor and entertainment, and that’s why this weatherman has caused quite a stir for his boldness while giving the weather report on-air for Channel 4 News.

Liam Dutton, a prominent weatherman for Channel 4 News, was born in Cardiff. He’s managed to gain worldwide fame for his impeccable pronunciation of the word ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.’

But what exactly is ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch?’ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it some made-up word used to confuse the heck out of everyone? None of the above! In fact, ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch’ is the name of a small village in north-west Wales. The 66-letter name is the longest in Europe, with people from all over trying their best to get it right but to no avail.

When Liam belted out the astonishingly long word, however, he gained over 16 million views on YouTube. Not only that, but he was interviewed by Wales Online, BBC Radio 5 Live, and Canadian breakfast television, as well as being featured in Time magazine, the New York Times, MTV and Perez Hilton for his fantastic work.

It truly is a feat. I like to think I have excellent pronunciation and consider myself quite literate. That being said, it’s nearly impossible for me to get through this. I’ve tried. And you should have a laugh and try too. I have no idea how this man gets it to roll off his tongue so effortlessly. He must be from there?

All of this for simply pronouncing a word correctly? Well, if you don’t think it’s a big deal, give the video below a watch. Then, you’ll surely understand why Liam has managed to win over the hearts of many.

After checking out the video clip, be sure to like and share it with your family and friends! Additionally, if you think you can get the pronunciation correct, we’d love to see your attempt!
