Wild Lioness Embraces Her Rescuers

Don’t think lions and lionesses can be good pets? Let alone be pets, many of us think that these felines can’t be befriended because of their supposed violent natures and abilities to hunt human prey. Well the video we’re sharing in this post will change all of those perceptions—wait and watch!

This video shows Sirga the lioness playing with, hugging, and cuddling, her rescuers—Valentin Gruener and Mikkel Legarth. The two men have forged an “unbreakable bond” with the animal and they have also taught her to fend for herself. With the help of these two conservationists, Sirga can now hunt her own prey. But how did the two come across the wild lioness?

Sirga was abandoned by her pride when both Valentin and Mikkel came to her rescue—she befriended these two men who ended up changing her life for the better. Watch in the video how they treat her like any other ordinary house pet, and encourage her against violent behavior like when she tries to gnaw on one of their arms; or when she abruptly pounces on them.

She lives in Bostwana, Africa, where the two men have founded the Modisa Wildlife Project in efforts to save more of the lion population. Sirga serves as a fine example of how lions and lionesses can be tamed and trained to be friendly to those in their surroundings, and their poor reputation of being violent and aggressive doesn’t apply to all wildlife.

This video can also serve as a proven record of how hard conservationists work to protect wildlife around the world with their efforts to start certain projects, and protect various habitats. With research and sound efforts on our part, we can all be a part of making a difference for wild animals around the world.
