I think it’s safe to say that nearly anyone who commits themselves to rescue an animal is a hero in one way or another. Some of us bring rescue pets into our own homes, as fosters and adopters, some volunteer their time at the local animal shelter, and others otherwise donate time or money to fundraisers and rescue organizations. There are countless ways to help animals in need. Even sharing a post on social media of a shelter or rescue animal looking for its forever home is a way to help.
Personally, I have two rescue dogs and donate to my local shelter, as well as attend every fundraiser they hold. However, when there are still animals out there who are lonely, homeless and suffering, it’s easy to feel like I’m not doing enough. But, I try to remind myself that I’m doing what I can, and that’s what really matters.
There are some folks out there who go above and beyond to help as many animals as they can. These are extremely dedicated individuals who risk their own safety to help an animal. Hope for Paws workers and volunteers are these types of people. Called in to rescue puppies from a deep cave, they succeeded in a daring rescue with a little surprise at the end.
Rescuers pulled the frightened, crying puppies from a narrow cave, even as they tried to disappear as deep as they could. After eight were rescued, one person decided to check to be sure they had pulled all of them out. But, there was one more—a tiny, quiet runt was left and was thankfully saved with her siblings.
