A Customer Wanted To Help
YouTube, 6abc PhiladelphiaA customer who’s trained in CPR, Alease Scott, offered to check the baby’s vitals and she saw that the baby’s umbilical cord was still attached, and they seemed like they had difficulty in breathing.
The Woman Fled
YouTube, 6abc PhiladelphiaWhen all the attention was already on the baby, the woman immediately walked out of the restaurant, leaving the baby with Alease.
Saving The Baby
PexelsThe restaurant staff called the police for help and they arrived with an oxygen tank and other medical gear. The baby cried, moved, opened, and closed their eyes, and started suckling the mask which meant that they were hungry.
They Found The Woman
PexelsAlease’s boyfriend, Walter Cocca, recorded what happened with his camera and the restaurant’s security cams helped the police in finding the 14-year-old woman.
She Got Detained
PexelsThe authorities detained the teenager for a short while and took her to Jersey City Medical Hospital to check on her health. She did not face any charges, and her baby was put up for adoption.
