It’s definitely going to get cold outside and thoughts of the hot summer will soon be far away. As the temperatures drop and it starts to get even colder, I can’t help but think that it’s time for a vacation. At this point, I’m not picky at all–I would settle for anywhere warm.
Lots of folks will take off during the coldest time of year and enjoy the warm sun and a warmer climate. Instead of staying inside out of the cold, there are all sorts of warm weather activities to enjoy on a vacation. You could go sailing, snorkeling, or scuba diving. Or you might prefer lounging on the beach under a big umbrella, enjoying fruity drinks and a new book. Whatever your preference, unless you like skiing, a trip to a warmer climate is definitely ideal.
I’m not much of a beach person — I don’t like getting sand in everything and swimming in the ocean is not my favorite activity. So, I prefer to do my swimming and lounging by a pool. Preferably, that pool is set in a beautiful tropical location and has comfy chairs and a beautiful view.
Africa isn’t exactly a tropical vacation, but it does have wonderfully warm temperatures and there are lots of places that are vacation destinations. Often, a trip to Africa involves a safari or the opportunity to view some wildlife. However, your resort vacation and your safari usually don’t mix.
But, at one particular resort, it’s not uncommon for the local elephants to pay a visit to the swimming pool for a quick drink. While elephants are intelligent and gentle creatures, they can be quite dangerous. I’m not sure how I’d feel about one interrupting my sunbathing session.
This behavior is something super common, though. Vacationers will tell you that they have experienced elephants crashing their gatherings outdoors, in South Africa. But, it’s important to understand that you should always err on the side of caution when dealing with these wild animals. In all honesty, I don’t know how I would react if this happened to me. The closest I’ve been to an elephant is at the zoo!
