He Pours THIS Mixture All Over His Front Yard… The Reason? This Is BRILLIANT!

When the sun is out and the weather decides to cooperate, it’s time to take advantage of the opportunity and get outdoors! And while some people like more extreme physical activities, I lean towards the outdoor activities that allow me to stay remain stationary for the most part. I’m all about lounging around in my backyard, grilling burgers and steaks, sipping on a cold glass of lemonade or iced tea, and listening to some music… this is heaven for me! But the one thing that can spoil everything? Bugs.

When it comes to insects, I am an absolute wuss. There’s just something about them completely freaks me out. And it feels like whenever I’m outdoors, it’s inevitable that a bunch of ants will show up to the party and magically end up on my food or somewhere on my body. Ugh!

So what to do about those pesky ants? Well, Household Hacker, as usual, has us covered with some very clever tricks using everyday household items. These tricks include:

  1. Creating a “moat” around your picnic table by placing cheap containers underneath the legs and filling them with water. Now they can’t crawl up the table!
  2. Giving your recyclables a rinse before putting them in the recycling bin to get rid of any sugars that may attract the ants.
  3. Using water, sugar, and Borax to eliminate ants that have invaded your home.
  4. Boil water and add cayenne pepper, then pour the mixture on ant colonies that you find in your hard.
  5. Remove pheromone ant trails by spraying the trails with a mixture of water, vinegar and a bit of dish soap.
