Dancers Form A Diagonal Line On The Floor. But When They Start Moving My Jaw Hits The Floor.

“All right stop. Collaborate and listen. Ice is back with my brand new invention. Something grabs a hold of me tightly, flow like a harpoon daily and nightly.”

In case you don’t recognize those lovely lyrics, that’s Vanilla Ice’s mega rap hit “Ice Ice Baby.” Admittedly, I did used to groove to this song way back in its heyday but now it’s more of a secret shame of sort. Now, I don’t know much about ballroom dancing but if someone were to tell me that a dance team chose Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby for their routine in a professional competition, I’d be left scratching my head.

Admittedly, I don’t know a whole lot about ballroom dancing but I tend to associate it more with elegant instrumentals rather than early 90s rap. But Ice Ice Baby is exactly what happened during one performance, and they even threw in MC Hammer’s U Can’t Touch This, Madonna’s La Isla Bonita, and a slew of other pop songs from different eras. So how the heck do you dance to a soundtrack like that? Well, the answer to that is in the video below and it completely changed the way I think of ballroom dancing. Now this is what I call creativity!
