She Plastic-Wraps Everything BUT Her Counter And Then Sprays THIS All Over… That’s Brilliant!
By Janey - February 10th, 2016
I have an older house and my bathrooms can definitely use some renovating. But I’ve called a few contractors out to give me an estimate and, goodness gracious, I had no idea how expensive these renovations were! Consequently, I’ve learned to live with the older finishes which has its own charm, in a way. But what if I told you that you could completely change up the look of your washroom for less than $10? [googlead]You’d probably think I’m crazy but as it turns out, this is actually possible! Jess from Bright Green Doors managed to transform her old laminate countertop into a stunning centrepiece with a can of spray paint! Check this out…
Here’s the before photo… note that Jess painted the cabinets white, and that’s when she realized that she NEEDED to do something about her laminate counter.
Jess wrapped the entire washroom except the counter using plastic wrap and painter’s tape. This process masks the areas that she doesn’t want to paint.
Then she uses a can of Rust-oleum “American Accents” in stone. A single can allowed her to do four light coats, so plan accordingly!
Jess mentions that you need to continuously shake the can because the particles that give the stone texture tend to settle at the bottom. She also warns that the fumes can be strong so make sure the area is well ventilated (open those windows and get a fan running)! Also, make sure you let each coat dry before applying the next one.
Once completed and the paint has dried, remove the plastic wrap. Voila!
Amazing! Can you believe she managed to do this for under $10?
