Black Cat Won’t Stop Staring At Navy Officer’s Photo. Then Mom Pieces Together The Truth.

I had a cat for 16 years. She was the best, sweetest and loving creature. We had such a beautiful bond between us, we just got along so well, able to pick up on one another’s energy and love. We just clicked. I was her human, and she was my cat.

I know what it’s like to forge such a strong bond with a kitty, and I know it must go both ways. Just like the story of Max and his mom, Erin, who found their kitten Yuuki in a shelter. The moment they met her, they just knew she was the one they had to take home.

Right from the get-go, Max and Yukki were inseparable. She would always fall asleep on his lap or snuggle up close to his head at night in bed. She really found her human and fell in love. Erin says “Max has always felt connections to any animals he was around. He’s a sweetheart.”

Just after six months of being adopted, Max had to leave home to go away with the army to serve his first year with the US Navy. And when he left, Yuuki didn’t seem herself. She slowed down, her body language was sad and her energy levels seemed to take a plunge. It appeared as though the cat was really missing Max, and was in a state of confusion and sadness.

It was when Erin caught Yukki staring at a framed photo of Max that she started to think the cat was heartbroken. It could have been a one-off, however, so Erin moved the photo. But the cat found it and did the same thing. She jumped up right close to the picture and looked at it intently, letting out a couple of little meows and looking forlorn.

“She just sits there, stares, meows and then lays down next to the picture to nap. I know for sure she misses him,” says Erin. Luckily for Yukki, she was able to tag along when the family went to go see Max so they could all reunite and have a nice get together. As much as Yukki loves Max, Max also really loves Yukki. “My son worries that she won’t remember him,” Erin continues. “It gives me comfort knowing she does, and it’s nice to have proof to show him.”
