Kids Refuse To Go On Boring Trip, So Their Parents Take The Modem Instead

If you grew up during the Internet age, you probably know how hard it is to stay away from the online world. I know that all too well. As a kid, if I was anywhere in the house, you’d be able to find me in the office playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein while blaring late 90s, early 00 hits like “All The Small Things,” “Dirty Little Secret,” and “I’m Blue (Da Be Dee)” from YouTube. My mom would do anything to get me off that darn computer. My parents created a digital monster!

Australian parents Chris and Cassie Langan also have digital monsters of their own – three, to be exact. When the parents recently announced to their trio of kiddos that they would be going on a lovely beach trip as a family, they were shocked when they were greeted with moans and groans. What kid doesn’t want to go to the beach?! Perhaps their younglings wanted to stay home and surf the good ole web instead.

But Mother and Father Langan weren’t going to ruin their adventure just so their kids could spend time on the Internet. The perfect punishment? They’d be taking their household’s modem on their vacation! The parents described this lovely technological device as their “most overworked family member.” If anyone needed a vacation most, it was the modem.

So, off went Cassie, Chris, the modem, and one of the Langan’s children, who was actually up for the holiday. Meanwhile, the other two “unappreciative” children stayed home.

Not only did the two other kids not get to enjoy a sunny seaside trip, but the parents decided to take pictures of their modem having the time its life.

First, the parents snapped a photo of the family modem soakin’ up some rays on the toasty sand with deep blue waves in the foreground. Look at what those kids are missing!

Then the family got hungry, so they went to grab some grub. Even the modem got a sandwich and soda to enjoy. (Jealous yet, kids?)

One of my personal favorite parts of the trip was when the foursome went to get a little history lesson at the museum. Even Modem enjoyed looking at the museum’s tiny model homes. Education sure pays off!

But the beach vacay wasn’t quite over. They also took Modem to play on a nearby playground (he loved sliding on a massive, metal slide on the sandy beach, by the way), take a walk down the pier, and even shop for souvenirs.

The best part about the family vacation? The modem was not only up for the vacation, but he didn’t complain about the food on the trip, beg for extra souvenirs, yawn while at the museum, or beg to return home early.

At least Modem knows a great vacation opportunity when he sees one. Great job, parents!
