This Bottle Garden Hasn’t Been Watered Since 1972! Watch This Video To See How It’s Done.

When I think of gardening, I usually think of one word: work. And a lot of it.
But here’s David Latimer, who has this gorgeous garden in a bottle, and in over 50 years, he watered it just once. It may seem hard to believe, but it’s absolutely true! Do I still qualify for a green thumb if I take this route?
David started a bottle garden “out of idle curiosity” on Easter Sunday in 1960. Back then, bottle gardens were a bit of a fad.
The water cycle is a self contained process: water is absorbed by the roots, transpired into the air, and then condenses down back to the bottom of the bottle. Photosynthesis creates the necessary oxygen and moisture.
And so David has been able to leave this amazing bottle garden under his stairs for decades! The garden started off with a quarter of a pint of water and it was only in 1972 that it was watered.
Want to make your own? Such a beautiful garden doesn’t get much easier than this!
