Boy Opens Envelope Containing Last Chore And Gets Emotional When He Reads It

There’s absolutely no doubt that living and working on a farm entails a lot of work. For a farm to be productive and profitable, owners and workers often get up before the sun and don’t return home until long after it has set. The long hours are spent doing physical, often difficult labor in addition to all of the normal administrative work that goes along with running a business.

Due to the nature of weather, animals, and crops, a farmer’s job is 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Plants and animals don’t understand 9 to 5 schedules. There are no “days off”. As a farmer, you may have the opportunity to stay home for a day or even go on a rare vacation, but the work is always there, even when you are gone, and waiting for you when you return.

Kolt Kyler is a nine-year-old boy who works on his family’s farm. While other kids play video games and watch TV, he works alongside his father and never complains. His one “hobby” is his love for baseball and the Chicago Cubs. After finishing a particularly long day on the farm, Kolt’s father gave him an envelope that was supposed to be his final chore for the day. But, it was actually tickets to a Cubs game—a gift that brought the boy to tears.

But, there’s more! Kolt’s sister posted his reaction on Twitter, and something else amazing happened. Anthony Rizzo, the first baseman for the Cubs, retweeted his sister’s video saying, “This is awesome. When u come for the game Kolt I’ll have BP passes waiting for you. No better place to see the @Cubs then right on the field.” Kolt will actually get to meet the players and be right on the field!
