How To Crack An Egg Using One Hand

For anyone who knows me well, they know that my favorite meal of the day has to be breakfast. They will also know that I love to cook, so it’s easy to put two and two together—I love eating AND cooking breakfast! And what’s my general go-to early in the morning? Coffee and eggs, for sure!

The only thing that troubles me when making eggs is cracking them! I’ve been cooking for a while but somehow, almost every single time I make breakfast, a (small) part of the shell always falls into the bowl. Then starts the messy task of getting it out.

There has actually been a time when I lost the cracked eggshell in the batter for my pancakes—I ended up making the pancakes anyway, not knowing who would get that extra crunchy bit of the eggshell. Thankfully, no one complained about any weird tasting objects in the pancakes, and breakfast went well—phew!

I remember being a kid and watching my dad make breakfast every Sunday morning. He would put the coffee to brew, take out the sausages and bacon, and the eggs. Then he would start cracking them open to scramble. I would be in awe of how seamlessly he would crack ’em, and toss the shell without it crumbling all over the pan. It was like magic. I always wanted to be able to do that. I couldn’t learn his ways though, until now.

After watching the tutorial below, I think it’s safe to say that I won’t be serving egg-filled dishes with some shell on the side. I also realized that I’ve been cracking an egg wrong this whole time. This tutorial not only shows you how to do it correctly but also how to open up an egg using just one hand.

See, it may sound easy to crack an egg with one hand, but I don’t know how easy it is. I’m sure if we follow the instructions below though, we’ll be professionals at it in no time! I feel like my skills are about to go from “noob” to “super advanced,” really quickly! Hey, I’m not complaining.
