Joyful Baby Elephant Has Time Of Her Life Playing With Ribbon

Whether it be a human child or baby animal, seeing little ones play is entertaining for us. From the joy we see on their faces to the memories we relive from our own childhood when we see others having fun, there are many things about seeing others in the act of playing that is so fascinating for us. Due to the latter, it’s no wonder that videos of cute animals are one of the most popular types of videos on the Internet to date, according to Make Use Of. We just can’t get enough!

If you’ve already watched nearly every adorable puppy and kitten video on the Web, perhaps the viral video going around of a baby elephant playing with a blue ribbon is footage you have yet to see. Since 2014, the video has racked up a whopping 2-million views and counting!

In the video, Faa Mai the baby elephant—who resides in Kuet Chang, Thailand at Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary and rescue center for elephants—is first shown walking up to the camera with the ribbon draped around her neck like she’s walking on a runway. The sweet creature then starts to wrap the ribbon around her legs and whip it around. What a cutie!

Although we presume the little elephant is just having brief, casual fun, she really starts to get into her act of play when she begins spinning the blue ribbon around in circles with her trunk, kind of like a rhythmic gymnast. The more the youngster plays, the bigger the smile gets on her face. That is truly one of the best parts of the footage!

Then about halfway through the video, we witness an older elephant coming up to her after she throws her ribbon down to give her a long, affectionate trunk hug.

After the adorable interaction, the little one resumes her ribbon play which not only includes spinning and whipping around the ribbon but also lying on the grass and rocking back and forth. It’s not just us who find Faa Mai’s play entertaining because it’s apparent that her friend does too as she closely watches her every move!

According to the Elephant Nature Park website, Faa Mai is now 10-years-old, and her name translates to, “A New Day.” Because she resides in a protected elephant community, Faa Mai will forever live a safe life alongside her mother Mae Bua Tong, her sister Tong Jaan, and her adopted sister Faa Sai. We are confident that Faa Mai will continue to have a long and happy life!
