Woman Demonstrates How To Fix Holes In Clothing Using A No-Sew Technique

A little hole in an article of clothing is the bane of my existence. Ok, that’s a little dramatic. There are much worse things that could potentially negate my existence, but just to drive this point home, I had to go there.

How frustrating is it to discover that your favorite shirt, your best-fitting shorts, or your hug-in-all-the-right-places sweater have a hole in plain sight? And, to make matters worse, you’re not an all-star champ at sewing! AND, you’re already halfway out the door to your dinner party – with no plan b for another outfit. It can set you back a few hours trying to find something else to wear, not to mention the amount of wasted money on an otherwise beautiful article of clothing. What’s a person in a hurry to do?!

Well, look no further. This here is a cure-all solution for weaved fabric that will fix your problem in no time – and you don’t even have to know how to sew. You do, however, need to make a quick trip to the store to have this secret ingredient on hand. But once you’ve got it, it’ll last forever. You will also need an iron and wax paper.

In the video, the Classy Cheapskate introduces us to the concept of fusing web, something I’ve never heard of but it has my full attention. Fusing web is a no-sew sheet-type adhesive that bonds layers quickly by applying heat. Classy Cheapskate shows us how to use it.

Simply turn your piece of clothing inside out and cut a piece of fusing web that’s a little bigger than the hole that needs to be patched. Gather the fabric surrounding the hole close together so that the hole is teeny tiny or not visible anymore, then place the piece of web on top. Make sure the iron is set to “wool,” then place a piece of wax paper on top of the hole so the fusing web material doesn’t get stuck to the iron. Nobody has time for that!

Hold the iron on the hole and fusing web for 10 seconds, and voila! You have patched the nuisance hole in your garment, without a sewing kit, and with minimal frustration!
